Question: How do I know when my book is due?

There are a few ways to find out when your books are due;

  • Four days before your book is due you will get a message to your student email account. This email will tell you that you will receive a second email in two days time to tell you either that (a) your books have been automatically renewed, or (b) that you need to return them on the given due date. This email two days before the due date can be slightly misleading so see our FAQ below on automatic renewals if you are unsure.

  • Another way to check your due date is by logging into your Library Account, choose the Single Sign On option on the left under "NCI Students and Staff", as below.

How the screen will look after clicking into "Library login", showing SSO option and alternative login option.

Once logged in you can see the books you have on loan (and their due date). From here, you can renew the books if you would like to and if there is no waitlist for them.

  • Finally, if you are in the library you can check what books you have borrowed on our self-service machine. These are located on the 4th and 5th floors of the Spencer Dock Library, beyond the glass partition to the right after entering, as below.

Self-service kiosks on the 4th floor of the library, in front of a glass partition with green and blue stripes on it.

Choose the Account option on the touch screen and then scan the barcode of your student card under the red line. From here, you can see what books you have on loan and their due dates.
